Sam has been in the Automotive arena since 1990 as an Engineering Systems Engineer, Engineering Designer and for the last 20 years as a Virtual Reality Subject Matter Expert at General Motors Design Center in Michigan.
His team creates new Immersive Virtual Reality experiences for the Engineering/Design teams to envision vehicles early in their life cycle, reducing the need for prototypes. They employ the usage of Augmented Mixed Reality HMDs, basic Immersive HMDs as well as the traditional CAVETM and power wall projection systems in their world of Immersive VR.
Sam is focused on incorporating new techniques and use cases to support GM’s reduction from physical properties to virtual. His previous experience as a designer helps him to develop useful and meaning reviews and his programming experience has allowed him to develop efficient tools within their software to allow such a small team of talented people to support a large company’s demands.
