Brendan Hanna is the Head of Technology Innovation at National Grid. National Grid is a multinational gas and electricity utility company. It operates over 9,000 miles of transmission, providing over 3.3 million customers with electricity and 3.4 million with Natural Gas in Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island. Brendan leads Technology innovation at National Grid by heading a group known as ngLabs. His mission is to bring emergent technologies into the organization and drive the creation of new products and solutions. This incorporates three distinct areas; technology scouting and evaluation, internal evangelization, and software/systems development. Brendan has over 18 years of experience in the technology sector. He began his career as a field engineer in higher education, moved to being the Director of Technical Services and systems engineering for a leading defense contractor, and Chief Architect and CTO of an innovative startup. At National Grid he has held positions as Technical Lead for US technology programs, US Enterprise Architect, and Head of ngLabs.
